Having been open for nearly 3 years we decided it was time we finally had the Open day we’d been promising from the day one!

We honestly didn’t have an idea what to expect but are delighted to say that the day was a huge success with a constant stream of faces through the door (some new, some old), and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Apologies for the lack of better pictures below, but the day was so busy from 10am to almost 10pm we just didn’t get the chance to take any more!

I’ve split the report into sections based on the different rooms we had open:

We demonstrated the first full production example of our PhoNote phono stage (see picture below)

System demonstrated:
Vinyl front end:
Clearaudio Champion turntable, Project Speedbox SE power supply, Michell Tecnoarm A and Audio note io1 cartridge.
Digital front end: resolution Audio Opus 21 CD player
Preamplifcation: Music First Audio Silver TVC and Note Products PhoNote MC.
Power amplification: Audion Silver Night 300B parallel single ended
Speakers: ProAc D38 speakers in Ebony
Equipment supports: Something Solid XR on missing Link Feet
Cables: Note Products PurerNote interconnects and speaker cables
Mains: Chord Power Chord cables and Isotek Titan mains conditioner

The dem room was busy throughout the day and we received many compliments for the sound which were really appreciated.

Those familiar with the way we normally use our dem room will have noticed we set it up backwards, this was to give easier access to the seating which was particularly useful when the rooms was full.

Vivante records bought along a large selection of new LP’s which filled our conservatory. Sean had bought along a lot of interesting titles and seemed to be doing a roaring trade throughout the day.

In the showroom we had a system on for background music, but it attracted a lot of interest so here’s a brief summary of the parts being used:

Vinyl front end:
Funk Vector turntable with Audio Note Arm-1 and Music Maker 3 cartridge.
Digital front end: Heart CD6000
Amplification: Audion pre amplification and Audion Silver Note 2A3 power amplifier
Speakers: Audio Note AN-J speakers on Something Solid XF speaker stands.
Cables: Note Products InterNote interconnects and speaker cable, Merlin mains cables & distribution.
Equipment Support: Something Solid EXR

The speakers were too far from the wall to get a properly balanced sound but the mid range still had all the speed and tactility that they are renowned for.

We’d like to thank Sean from Vivante records, Mark from Something Solid, Graham from GT Audio and Harry from Music First Audio who all attended, and for the many of our customers and friends both new and old that were able to make it along and made the whole day worthwhile.

We are hoping to make open days a regular event, and as soon as dates are available they will be listed on the features page of the site, alternatively why not join our subscribers list to receive email updates (on the contact us page).
