Picking one of the hottest days of the year and one that also clashed with one of the quarter finals for the World Cup probably wasn’t the wisest of dates to pick for our second open day, but the glorious weather meant that we were able to have our first barbeque. Here’s a brief write up of the various things going on:

The system used consisted of the outrageously good Avantgarde Due horns speakers whose 104dB sensitivity worked wonderfully with the 3.5w Audion Silver Note 2A3 single ended triode power amplifier. Vinyl source was the Nottingham Analogue Dais turntable with 12” Ace Space tonearm fitted with Audio note Io cartridge via our PhoNote MC preamplifier.
Digital was handled by the very musical combination of CEC TL-51X belt drive transport and Audio Note DAC 2.1 balanced digital to analogue converter.

Full details of the system are as follows:
Vinyl front end:
Nottingham Dais (includes Wave mechanic power supply), Nottingham Analogue 12” Ace Space tonearm and Audio note io1 cartridge.
Digital front end: CEC TL-51X belt drive transport via Chord Signature Digital interconnect into Audio Note DAC 2.1x balanced.
Preamplifcation: Music First Audio Silver TVC and Note Products PhoNote MC phono stage.
Power amplification: Audion SilverNote (zero feedback 2A3 Single ended)
Speakers: Avantgarde Duo horns
Equipment supports: Something Solid XR on Missing Link Feet
Cables: Note Products PurerNote interconnects and speaker cables
Mains: Isotek, Music Works and Chord Power Chord cables via Isotek Titan mains conditioner

We were also demonstrating the positive effects that the Bedini Clarifier can have on CD’s at various points throughout the day.

We’ve not had a system outside before, so when the guys from Activ suggested bringing a system along we thought it could be good fun (above). They used the Consonance CD120 linear into Leema amplification and speakers (including their matching subwoofer). Also on display was the new Isotek Sigmas mains filter.

We’d like to thank Mark and Paul from Activ distribution, Graham from GT Audio, Tim from Wavelength Distribution and everyone that was able to make it along on the day.
